The symptoms of prostate infection can develop quite rapidly - over a matter of weeks, or more slowly - nagging for several months. Although not everyone has symptoms, most men get at least some, especially:

Pain or stinging feeling, or burning sensation during urination as sense of fullness in the rectum (dysuria) - one of the hallmark symptoms of prostatitis.
Difficulty urinating, such as dribbling or hesitant urination (trouble passing urine).
Frequent urination - strong urge to urinate, even when there is only a small amount of urine, particularly at night (nocturia).

It should be noted, however, that some mild cases of prostate infection may disappear spontaneously without any treatment.

All symptoms of prostatitis, though, should be thought of as the warning sings of something going on inside the prostate. They may seem unimportant at first, but they should never be ignored. In fact, they are similar to those of urinary tract infection (UTI). Also, an acute bacterial prostatitis can cause severe symptoms of a bladder infection.

A long-lasting, chronic bacterial prostatitis, on the other hand, can be associated with recurrent bladder infections. Therefore, it is good to know and evaluate your symptoms, because you might want to (or should) talk with your doctor.
